Day 1 - Introductions and Fundamentals!
Campers will start every morning with a warm up game and individual stick work. Campers will get the time every player needs to become familiar with their stick and the ball. We will review cradling, emphasizing learning both right and left hands. Every skill will be taught stationary advancing to on the move and with others. After cradling and taking it on the move, campers will review catching and throwing basics and move on to on the move. The afternoon session will be filled with fun relay races and stick skill competitions!
Day 2 - Review of Basic Skills with an emphasis on Ground balls and Shooting!
Campers will review and build on their stick work from Day 1. More advanced stick skills and tricks will be taught each morning in order to build confidence and familiarize the feel for optimal ball handling success. The campers will be introduced to ground balls through various drills and games, and build up to catching and moving the ball after pickup. Campers will learn the layout of the field and build an understanding of the cage, the crease, the restraining line, 8 meter and 12 meter arcs. Campers will learn about shooting and build on their catching and groundballs as they scoop up a ball and turn and shoot. The day will end with some fun shooting games and competitions!
Day 3 - Offense Day!
Campers will start the day reviewing stick work and reviewing shooting. We will move on to the importance of dodging a defender, free position shooting and how to play attack on the crease. As individual skills increase we will continue to develop the team aspect of spacing and offensive movement. Team concepts will be solidified through more game like play and competitions!
Day 4 - Defense Day!
Campers will review stick work and shooting and move on to footwork and body position in order to become successful defenders. We will start without sticks in order to emphasize non-contact defensive body position and learn where to be on the field defensively. We will also introduce terminology such as goal side and ball side. As we become better defenders we can improve our offensive movements and shots as we work around defense. The campers will begin more game like and team like situational play.
Day 5 - Total Game!
Our final day we will bring all of what we have learned throughout the week into focus as we put it all together into different game like situations such as 7v7, 3v3, man down and man up! We will work from the draw and set up into different teams and have a fun day of playing and learning!
