Soccer Camp
United Sports soccer camps provide focused, age appropriate instruction in the 4 pillars of the game: technical, tactical, psychological and physical.
We have introductory camps for players to learn about the sport through fun soccer related games. We have intermediate camps for players who have some experience and would like to be challenged to step up to the next level. We have separate boys and girls academy camps for the advanced player 8 to 14 years old with at least 2 years of experience playing Div 2 or above, as well as a high school camp for players looking to get an edge going into preseason next fall!

Future Stars Camp: June 21, June 28, July 12 - ages 5-7 | Beginner
Introduction to soccer skills and games.
Typical Future Stars camp schedule:
8:45-9am - Players are dropped off and sign-in.
9-9:30am - Players will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity incorporating the main theme of the day to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility and prepare them for the technical training which is coming next.
9:30-10:15am - Each day we will cover a different technical skill (dribbling, passing, receiving air balls, finishing) and start off with no pressure repetition to improve the player's confidence while attempting new skills. We will increase defensive pressure throughout the session which will prepare players for the soccer related games. (ie. If we are dribbling to beat a defender, we will first work on 3 or 4 different moves going to cones, then passive defenders.)
10:15-11am - Soccer related games based on the theme of the day. (ie. If we are dribbling to beat a defender, we will play 1v1 games going to goal.)
11-12pm - Players will be assigned to teams representing different countries who qualified for the World Cup in South Africa this summer. The team at the end of the week with the best record will receive an award.
12pm -Campers are signed-out and dismissed.
World Cup Camp: June 28-July 12, ages 8-14 | Intermediate
Players will be grouped according to age and be introduced to a variety of specific technical skills to increase their control of the ball and confidence on the field.
Typical World Cup camp schedule:
8:45-9am - Players are dropped off and sign-in.
9-9:30am - Players will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity incorporating the main theme of the day to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility and prepare them for the technical training which is coming next.
9:30-10:15am - Each day we will cover a different technical skill (dribbling, passing, receiving air balls, finishing) and start off with no pressure repetition to improve the player's confidence while attempting new skills. 1:30-2:00pm - Different soccer related games from the morning session to reinforce the theme of the day.
2:00 - 3:00pm - Large sided scrimmages (6v6, 8v8 or 11v11) to give players the opportunity to compete in a larger space.
Strike Force Camp: July 12-16, ages 8-14 | Intermediate/Advanced
Players are grouped by age, then skill and challenged to improve. This camp focuses on the attacking aspects of the game including: driven balls with the laces, crossed balls, finishing one touch, finishing off the dribble as well as playing with their back to the goal, bent balls and combining at the top of the box for the more advanced players.
Mike Barr, the director of coaching for Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, will be a guest instructor on the final day of the Strike Force camp to identify players who will be invited to participate in the 2010-11 Olympic Development pool.
Typical Strike Force camp schedule:
8:45-9am - Players are dropped off and sign-in.
9-9:30am - Players will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility and include juggling the ball with the laces and driving a ball to a target.
9:30-10:15am - Each day we will cover a different technical theme and start off with no pressure repetition to improve the player's confidence while attempting new skills. We will increase defensive pressure throughout the session which will prepare players for the soccer related games.
10:15-11am - Soccer related games based on the theme of the day where pressure (defense, time, space) will be increased.
11-12pm - Players will participate in small sided games with full sized goals where points will be awarded based on the theme of the day. (ie. If driven balls with the laces is the theme, then shots must be taken from more than 15 yards out. If 1 touch finishing is the theme, then the shot can be from anywhere, but must be one touch.)
12pm - Half day campers sign-out and are dismissed. Full day campers go in for lunch.
12-12:30pm - Lunch
12:30-1pm - Video time ( to allow players time to have food digest after lunch).
1-1:30pm - Group warm-up with participants from other premier sport camps at the facility
1:30-2:00pm - Different soccer related games from the morning session to reinforce the theme of the day.
2:00 - 3:00pm - Large sided scrimmages (6v6, 8v8 or 11v11) to give players the opportunity to compete in a larger space.
Goalkeeper Camp: July 12-16, ages 8-14 | Beginner / Intermediate
This camp will provide keeper specific instruction for the novice to intermediate level players. Players will be grouped by skill and will be challenged at their appropriate technical level to improve their game. For the beginners, we will work on basic footwork, catching and holding balls on the ground, low balls, balls at chest height and balls in the air, cutting down the angle and get an opportunity to try some diving. For the intermediate level keeper, we will review the basic skills and progress onto more demanding techniques including diving, deciding when to catch/punch or parry a crossed ball in the box and shutting down breakaways.
Our guest instructor on Monday, July 12th will be Steve Fraser. 2 years as staff coach for the EPYSA Olympic Development Program and current keeper coach for the women's professional soccer team the Philadelphia Independence.
Typical Goalkeeper camp schedule:
8:45-9am - Players are dropped off and sign-in.
9-9:30am - All keepers will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility incorporating the main theme for the keepers for the day.
9:30-10:15am - One group of keepers will be assigned to be keepers for the Strike Force camp to get the opportunity to make saves with high repetition to give them experience related to the main theme of the day. The other group will receive keeper specific instruction related to the main theme of the day.
10:15-11am - The groups of keepers will switch. Those with the Strike Force players will receive technical specific keeper instruction, while those who received instruction will be assigned to a Strike Force group.
11-12pm - All keepers will be assigned to teams (appropriate for their skill level) with full sized goals where points will be awarded based on the theme of the day. Groups will move up and down game fields depending on whether they win or lose games during this period.
12pm - Half day campers sign-out and are dismissed. Full day campers go in for lunch.
12-12:30pm - Lunch
12:30-1pm - Video time (to allow players time to have food digest after lunch).
1-1:30pm - Group warm-up with participants from other premier sport camps at the facility
1:30-2:00pm - Keepers get the opportunity to focus on keeper specific instruction to reinforce the theme of the day.
2:00 - 3:00pm - Large sided scrimmages (6v6, 8v8 or 11v11) to give players the opportunity to compete in a larger space.
Soccer Academy Camp: July 19-23, ages 8-14 | Advanced
Intense advanced technical and tactical training for the players who are looking to improve their confidence on the ball, composure on the field and control of the game.
Typical Academy camp schedule:
8:45-9am - Players are dropped off and sign-in.
9-9:30am - Players will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility.
9:30-10:15am - Technical emphasis: Each day we will cover a different technical skill, recapping the fundamentals and quickly moving into game related activities providing them with a variety of games to challenge them to increase their speed of play and solve problems under pressure.
10:15-11am - Tactical emphasis: We will build on the individual technical theme and require players to make tactical decisions under pressure in terms of identifying the open space, moving to an open space to demand the ball and receive a pass and encouraging them to have an idea before the ball arrives which direction they would like to go and what should happen with the ball next.
11-11:45am - Players will participate in small sided games incorporating the main theme for the day. The level of play is expected to be high and players that get tired will be subbed out.
11:45-12pm - Players will go through a 15 minute cool down and static stretch to increase their flexibility, minimize the chance of cramping, and improve their overall flexibility over time.
12pm -Campers are signed-out and dismissed.
High School Player and Keeper Camp: August 2-6, ages 14-18 | Advanced
Advanced camp, where boys and girls will train separately, designed for the committed high school level field player and keeper. Keepers will have separate training sessions each morning of camp, but will also be incorporated into the field player training sessions to get experience making decisions under game situations.

9-9:20am - Players will be put through a dynamic warm-up activity to minimize the risk of injury, increase strength and agility.
9:20-9:40am - Fitness element. Each day will have a fitness element which could include a timed 2 mile run, a casual 3 mile jog, sprint work and agility work to give players an idea of where they stand from a fitness standpoint going into their high school season.
9:40-10:20am - Each day we will cover a different technical theme and start off with no pressure repetition to improve the player's confidence while attempting new skills. We will increase defensive pressure throughout the session which will prepare players for the soccer related games.
10:20-11:15am - Soccer related games based on the theme of the day where pressure (defense, time, space) will be increased.
11:15-12pm - Players will participate in small sided games with full sized goals where points will be awarded based on the theme of the day.
12-1:00pm - Lunch
1-1:30pm - Group warm-up.
1:30-2:00pm - Different soccer related games from the morning session to reinforce the theme of the day.
2:00 - 3:00pm - Large sided scrimmages (8v8 or 11v11) to give players the opportunity to compete in a larger space.
CAMP STAFF
Jason Luzak - United Sports Summer Camp Director
Jason is a USSF Nationally Licensed A Coach with 13 years of experience as an EPYSA Olympic Development Program head coach on both the boys and the girls side. (Currently the U-12 girls EPYSA, ODP age group head coach.)
Jeff Duback - Guest Instructor for the Goalkeeper Camp.
A graduate of Yale University and Former National Team Goalkeeper who played in the American Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League and on the Men's U.S. National team.
Paul Royale - Guest Instructor for the Goalkeeper Camp.
Paul is in entering his 7th year as the head coach of the University of Lasalle and is the keeper coach for the Women's Professional Soccer team the Philadelphia Independence.
Mike Barr - Guest Instructor for Strike Force Camp.
Mike is the Director of Coaching for EPYSA and currently holds his USSF National A license as well as his Scottish National B license.
Craig Birtwistle - Summer Camp Staff Coach
UEFA B license, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and Birmingham City Academy Instructor who has worked for the boys and girls academy programs at United Sports for the last 3 years.
Greg Flaherty - Goalkeeper Coach
Although offered the position of assistant coach at Towson (where he anchored one of the top defenses in the country), Greg has chosen to work locally and pass along his soccer knowledge garnered after 20 years of high level playing.
Frank Olszewski - Future Stars Head Coach
Frank will be returning for his 5th year as our Future Stars head coach. He brings a great attitude to the field and always keeps things fun for the little kids. So players who register should be ready to play Octopus and watch out for the Dragon.
