2012 Total Sports Curriculum:

Monday through Wednesday mornings - Skill development games and activities focusing on the skills of each sport.
Monday through Wednesday afternoons - Includes choice time and short-sided sports games in each sport.
Thursdays - Primarily are field trip days.
Friday’s program includes tournaments in the mornings followed by tournament finals and awards in the afternoon.

June 25 – 29 – Phillies Week:

It’s a baseball week as campers play all games related to baseball. The morning schedule will consist of the following:
Monday – Hitting, fielding, throwing, kickball, timed speed run around bases
Tuesday – Throwing accuracy, running bases, VBB, fielding/double plays
Wednesday – AM - Home Run Derby – Reading Phillies game
Thursday – Hitting in cage, fielding and throwing drills, wiffleball
Friday – AM - skills testing – PM games and awards

Skill development includes proper throwing technique, batting/hitting in the batting cage, fielding and base running.
Games to be played include kickball, VBB (volleyball, baseball, basketball) running bases, wiffleball/home run derby.
Field Trip – Wednesday, June 27 - Reading Phillies Baseball Game
Special Guest – Thursday, June 28 – Reading Phillies Baseball Player

July 2 – 6 – Independence Week:

A great week for both male and female soccer enthusiasts. Local High School players will be here to help teach the finer points of the game. John Hatt, Downingtown West Soccer Coach will also be on hand to provide some coaching.

The morning schedule will consist of:
Monday – dribbling, passing and goal scoring contest
Tuesday – shooting for accuracy, timed dribbling contest, short sided games
Wednesday – 2 v 2, 3 v 3, 4 v 4 games
Thursday – Skills contests for kicking and passing
Friday – Total Sports soccer World Cup mini tournament and awards

Skill development includes proper kicking technique, using both feet, defensive play, team strategy, heading, shooting and throw-ins and goaltending.
Small - sided games and activities will take place.
Field Trip – Thursday – Bowling at Palace Bowling

July 9 – 13 – Eagles Week:

As football season begins to start up, Total Sports camp will be getting ready too with a week of football activities.
Monday – Quarterback skills and passing, receiving and punting skills and flag football games
Tuesday – Review playbook and rules – flag football games
Wednesday – Field goals, quarterback play and flag football games
Thursday – Review playbook, practice and play United Sports Bowl
Friday – Total Sports Punt, Pass and Kick competition, United Sports Bowl and awards
Field Trip – Tour of Lincoln Financial Field – home of the Philadelphia Eagles
Special guest – To be determined

July 16 – 20 – Flyers Week:

Even though it’s still summer, Total Sports campers will be really cool as they play a lot of hockey this week.

Monday – Stickhandling, shooting and passing followed by small-sided games
Tuesday – Goaltending, stickhandling and defense
Wednesday – Review offense and defensive tactics and divide into United Cup teams.
Thursday – First and second rounds of United Camp Cup
Friday – Total Sports Stanley Cup tourney and awards

Field Trip – Thursday – Tour of Wells Fargo Center
Special Guest – To be determined

July 23 – 27 – 76ers Week:

Shootin’ hoops is fun anytime and this week campers will get to do that and a lot more.

Monday – Skills – dribbling and shooting – defense and 2 on 2 games
Tuesday – Skills – passing and shooting – knockout and 5-3-1
Wednesday – Review defense and divide into Final four teams
Thursday – trip to Camden Riversharks baseball game
Friday – Total Sports Final Four Tourney and awards

Field Trip – Camden Riversharks Baseball game

August 6 – 10 – Total Sports Olympics and Philadelphia Union Week:

It’s an Olympic year and Total sports will be all about the Olympics as well as the Union this week.
Monday – Intro to Olympics – Team Sports – soccer, volleyball, basketball and team handball
Tuesday – Soccer skills including dribbling, shooting and passing, followed by small-sided games
Wednesday – Divide into Olympic teams – select Olympic contests to be played – could include Soccer, handball, archery and basketball
Thursday – Begin Total Sports Olympic Games – 50 yd. Dash, Team relay, Archery competition
Friday – Conclude Olympics competition with awards

Field Trip – Tour of Citizens Bank Park
