* United Sports has the only indoor roller hockey rink in the Downingtown area.
* Our large indoor rink is ideal for youth roller hockey.
* With the success of the Flyers and USA hockey teams more kids are wanting to try roller hockey.
* Roller hockey is an inexpensive alternative to ice hockey.
* Roller hockey is also a more open game with only 8 skaters on the rink instead of 10 in ice hockey.
* The other reason inline hockey is growing is because checking is not allowed. This helps draw attention to the skills of the game instead of power.
Players need the following equipment: Hockey helmet, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves and inline skates.
- If your child loves playing hockey outside this is a great way for them to get involved in league play.
- The league is a 7 game season plus playoffs and 2 practice times.
How teams are made: The first night we have evaluations we run a few drills and separate the players based on age, ability, skill and size. Our goal is to have two divisions, a younger U9 division and an older U14 division.

Inline Hockey is a fast-moving sport played with four players and one goaltender, for each team on the playing surface. Players maneuver on inline skates that feature either 3, or 4 wheels on each skate. At the amateur levels of play, there are no offside or icing rules. As a result, the game is played in a wide-open manner that creates continuous action and many scoring opportunities. Both body checking and fighting are illegal in the sport of inline hockey and result in severe penalties against any offending player.
Equipment - Inline hockey players are required to wear inline hockey skates, a hockey helmet, shin guards, elbow pads and hockey gloves. Youth age divisions (8-, 10-, 12-, 14-, and High School) are also on required to wear a full facemask and a mouth guard. Other suggested pieces of protective equipment to wear include: hip pads, protective cup/pelvic protector, shoulder pads and throat protection.
Equipment may be purchased form Kelly's Sports in West Chester, Play It Again Sports, Modells in Exton or varies online stores. The best place to go even though it's a bit of a hike is Play it Again Sports.
